About Us
Our coalition was formed in 2018 to work on programs and legislation that would invest in our health care infrastructure and build a stable foundation for the future. Today, our coalition includes more than 80 health care provider, advocacy, and business organizations, among others, who meet regularly to discuss key challenges that impact access to health care across the Granite State. Our focus on developing policy solutions to systemwide issues, rather than the issues of a few, has resulted in historic investments across New Hampshire's health care system. We believe that every Granite Stater’s life is improved through better access to quality primary and preventive care, and we will continue our work in a bipartisan fashion to meet the health needs of the populations we serve.
With funding threats to New Hampshire's Medicaid programs at both the federal and state levels, NH Medicaid Matters is committed to protecting this critical source of essential health insurance for hundreds of thousands of Granite Staters.

New Futures
Medicaid is the backbone of New Hampshire's health care system, providing essential coverage across the lifespan from early childhood developmental screenings to comprehensive long-term care for older adults. It also serves as the primary safety net for our state's behavioral health system, being the largest funder of mental health and substance use disorder treatment. Medicaid ensures access to care for our state’s most vulnerable residents; it contributes hundreds of millions of dollars to the state economy; and helps to control costs for all Granite State patients. New Futures stands firmly against any policy changes to Medicaid that would take away essential health care coverage from Granite Staters, impacting us all from our children to our aging residents.
Bi-State Primary Care Association
Medicaid supports access to integrated primary care, cancer screenings, mental and behavioral health treatment, dental, pharmacy, and other services for over 30% of NH CHCs’ patients. In addition to keeping Granite Staters healthy and preventing more costly emergency room care down the road, Medicaid is also the dominant source of revenue on which CHCs depend for serving their communities. In 2023, 85% of CHCs’ patient-related revenue was attributed to Medicaid. It is imperative for our lawmakers to protect their constituents, whose health and lives are at stake if their Medicaid health insurance benefits were taken away.
Lakes Region Community Services
For the individuals LRCS serves, Medicaid is not just healthcare coverage - it is a lifeline. It enables access to critical home- and community-based services, case management, personal care assistance, employment support, and more. These services empower individuals to live independently, participate in their communities, and achieve meaningful lives. Families who rely on LRCS for support know firsthand how Medicaid transforms lives. It allows parents to continue working while ensuring their loved ones receive the care they need. It helps individuals with disabilities achieve greater autonomy, reducing the need for costly crisis interventions. Without Medicaid funding, many would face insurmountable barriers to care, leading to loss of independence, and higher costs for the state.
NAMI NH
As the largest payer of mental health and substance use disorder services, Medicaid is a lifeline for almost two hundred thousand Granite Staters. Access to health insurance coverage is essential for people with mental illness. Through Medicaid, individuals and families impacted by mental health conditions can access critical services like psychotherapy, inpatient treatment, prescription medications, crisis care, and more. As a grassroots organization, we consistently hear how Medicaid has changed lives — for our members, for their families, for the community at large. To put it simply, Medicaid makes recovery possible. To protect mental health in the Granite State, we must protect Medicaid.
New Hampshire Hospital Association
There is no dispute, Medicaid saves lives, improves health and lowers health care costs for everyone. With Medicaid coverage, patients otherwise hesitant to access health care services because of financial barriers are empowered to get the care they need to stay healthy. Coverage includes the ability to be seen by a primary care doctor or in a health clinic, to receive important primary and preventive, cost-effective management of chronic conditions, and life-saving mental health and substance use services. As a result of this coverage, Medicaid patients are able to receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
New Hampshire Charitable Foundation
Medicaid provides critical health care to almost 200,000 Granite Staters – from babies to seniors. It is the sole reason that many people in New Hampshire can get treatment for substance use disorders and other behavioral health care. And Medicaid, importantly, provides hundreds of millions of dollars to strengthen New Hampshire’s economy. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is committed to making New Hampshire a community where everyone can thrive. The Foundation, therefore, is opposed to changes to Medicaid that could make people and communities less healthy, destabilize our health care system and undermine our economy.
